Lawyer in Slovenia
We accept enquiries about documents, translation, contracts, property and personal matters involving Slovenia. We first establish the steps required and the document requirements. The involvement of a local lawyer, the availability of a particular service and the working language are agreed after we have reviewed the enquiry.

Key Information
Start with the Purpose of Your Enquiry
Preparing a certificate for a Slovenian authority and representing someone in a dispute are different assignments. We need to establish where the document was issued, where it will be used and what decisions need to be made. If another country is involved, explain its role rather than simply stating where you live.
You may submit your initial enquiry in Ukrainian. Once the task is clear, we identify the documents required, the professional who may undertake the work and the next steps. Listing a country does not mean that we have our own office in every city or automatically accept every assignment under Slovenian law.
02Who We Help
Individuals and Companies
Individual enquiries may concern family matters, inheritance, real estate and obtaining information or documents for official procedures. For businesses, relevant matters may include contracts, payments with counterparties, company records and disputed obligations. The subject of an enquiry and the ability to undertake it must be assessed separately.
Tell us if a representative is already involved, proceedings are under way, a meeting has been arranged or a filing deadline applies. For Ljubljana, Maribor, Celje, Koper or another city, identify the location where it affects the steps required. Mentioning a city does not itself confirm a regular reception service at a local address.

Documents for a Slovenian Authority
Ask the recipient for its requirements concerning the document type, issue date, original or copy, translation and certification. A complete written list is more useful than a few terms passed on verbally: the document’s precise name may affect the correct application. If no requirements are available, first identify the authority and purpose of submission.
For Ukrainian civil registry certificates, other certificates, diplomas and court records, the appropriate retrieval procedure must be checked. Where needed, we can arrange document retrieval. The applicant’s entitlement, the representative’s authority and the availability of the records are established separately. A new copy does not necessarily resolve an error in the original entry.
Do not assume automatically that an apostille or other certification is required. The particular document and applicable rules matter. Document formalities must also be distinguished from recognition of legal effects: a properly prepared diploma or court document does not automatically secure a favourable decision on the underlying application.
Translation into Slovenian
For an official procedure, the recipient may require a translation with a particular status. Slovenia has court interpreters and translators known as sodni tolmači. Whether such a professional is required, and the accepted format, should be established before ordering a sworn translation, rather than choosing by the service name alone.
Provide the complete document, including reverse sides, attachments, stamps and existing certifications. Agree the spelling of names by reference to the relevant personal or company documents. Translation must not be used to conceal factual corrections. Where sources conflict, resolving the discrepancy is a separate matter.
If the document needs further formalities after translation, the sequence should be agreed. Otherwise, a new endorsement or attachment may require additions to the completed translation. The number of copies, electronic or paper format and delivery arrangements also depend on the recipient’s requirements.
Contracts and Payments with Counterparties
A contractual enquiry requires the agreement, schedules, evidence of performance and correspondence. We clarify which obligations have been breached, what has been paid and whether the other party objects. Applicable-law, court and arbitration provisions are examined before deciding how to proceed.
The client’s presence in Slovenia does not automatically determine where a dispute should be resolved. Preparing a formal claim, negotiating, court representation and enforcement may be separate stages. The availability of a local professional and the scope of each assignment are confirmed before work begins, without promising recovery in every circumstance.
Property and Family Matters
For real estate, we need the property’s location, title documents and the proposed transaction terms. An inheritance matter requires details of the deceased, the parties, assets, any will and applications already made. In family matters, we clarify the parties’ countries of residence, relevant documents and existing decisions rather than automatically applying another country’s rules.
If legal steps under Slovenian law are required, we agree the appropriate professional and authority to act. Preparing documents is not itself representation. The need for personal attendance, interpreting for communication and involvement of other specialists is also determined separately for the particular assignment.
Preparing and Agreeing the Assignment
Prepare a brief timeline and identify the countries, authorities, purpose and important dates. Include documents directly explaining the matter and responses to previous enquiries. Do not provide the complete file or originals until their necessity, recipient and return arrangements have been agreed.
If you have several versions of a document, identify the latest and explain which amendments are still being discussed.
Submit your enquiry through our contact page. Following an assessment, we agree the assistance available, working language, fees and additional costs. Preparing a document, receiving an authority’s response and resolving a dispute have different timescales; they should not be reduced to a single universal promise.
Frequently Asked Questions
How should I start an enquiry involving Slovenia?
Describe the purpose, countries involved, documents and deadlines. This distinguishes document work from a need for local legal advice.
Can I immediately instruct you to act in a Slovenian court?
Local lawyer availability, authority and terms must first be checked. An initial enquiry does not mean the matter has been accepted.
How are documents prepared for a Slovenian authority?
Identify the recipient’s requirements, issuing country and purpose. Translation and any necessary authentication can then be agreed.
Can a contract with a Slovenian counterparty be assessed?
Yes. Send the contract and details of performance. The scope of any review or further action is agreed separately.
Must I travel to Slovenia to start an enquiry?
The initial enquiry can be made remotely. Personal attendance depends on the later steps and procedural requirements.
